What personal data we collect and why we collect it


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. Information OYMYGENES Collects

In addition, when you visit our Websites, our web servers automatically collect certain non-PII, such as the number and frequency of visitors to our web pages and the length of their stays, browser type, referrer data that identifies the web page visited prior and subsequent to visiting our Websites, and IP addresses (see below for more information on IP addresses). We also may determine the technology available through your browser in order to serve you the most appropriate version of a web page.

For people who choose to become registered members of OYMYGENES, upon completion of the registration process, we will send you a validation e-mail message.

For subscribers to OYMYGENES’s free e-newsletters, OYMYGENES uses a double opt-in process. After you provide your name and e-mail address via our Websites, you will also need to reply to a validation e-mail to fully activate your subscription.

By signing up for a OYMYGENES e-newsletter, you agree to receive E-mail Offers sent to you by OYMYGENES on behalf of sponsors of OYMYGENES. OYMYGENES will provide clear ways to stop receiving these e-mails in each e-mail offer it sends. At no time will any PII you have provided OYMYGENES be disclosed to any third party for the purposes of transmitting E-mail offers to you, though we may share information about our readership in aggregate with third parties.

You may decline to provide any personal information, but please realize that you thereby may be unable to register for, or participate in, certain of our services.

OYMYGENES does not rent, sell, barter or give away its user or member lists or its users’ or members’ names, e-mail addresses or mailing addresses for use by sponsors and other third parties for the purpose of solicitations, unless the user has previously given his or her consent.

OYMYGENES Does Not Knowingly Collect Information From Children Under Thirteen Years Of Age

This is not a Websites directed to children under the age of 13, and OYMYGENES does not knowingly collect any PII from children under thirteen years of age. If you are under thirteen years of age, do not send any information about yourself to OYMYGENES. If OYMYGENES discovers that a child under the age of 13 has provided OYMYGENES with PII, OYMYGENES will delete that child’s PII from its system.

OYMYGENES recommends parental supervision when a child uses the Internet, particularly when a child enters a forum or uses e-mail. We also encourage parents to instruct their children not to give out personal information in these areas.

Use Of IP Addresses

An IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer or network when you are on the Internet. When you request pages from this Websites, our servers log your IP address. OYMYGENES may use IP addresses for a number of purposes, such as system administration, to report aggregate information to our business partners or to audit the use of the Websites.


Like most Websites, our Websites may sometimes make use of browser “cookies.” Cookies are pieces of information that websites either transfer to your computer’s hard drive or stores temporarily in your computer’s memory for record-keeping purposes (also known as session cookies). Your Choices

If you register for membership on OYMYGENES or to receive one of our newsletters, you can notify us if at a later time you decide you no longer wish to be registered or receive the newsletter. If credit card information is transmitted, OYMYGENES uses encryption methods, including industry standard, SSL (secure socket layer) encryption.
